what the press are saying about us

Sarah Vine, The Times Saturday Magazine, October 2006

“My favourite of all these sites is atelierdebeauté.com. This is a small, upmarket "e-boutique" offering a carefully vetted range of products from all over the world. The co-owner, Caroline Honfleur, selects her merchandise on the basis of personal experience, and the result is utterly charming. It's also one of the few sites that is not festooned with advertising and annoying pop-ups.

Its star product is Vrai Argan Oil Body and Hair (£45). Argan oil is the rosehip oil of the Noughties, a concentrated emollient from Morocco rich in antioxidants, flavanoids and essential fatty acids. Some claim it can reduce scarring; I have no direct evidence of this, but it has rendered my grey autumnal skin as soft as the proverbial infant's behind. This version is scented with essential oils, including invigorating bergamot and verbena, and it absorbs beautifully so you can still get dressed with speed in the mornings.”

Alice Smellie, The Daily Mail, 28 October 2007: ‘Your Favourite Products Now Just A Click Away...’

www.atelierdebeaute.com

“Wittily written with a tongue-in-cheek French accent, the writer Elodie purports to attend beauty launches around the globe.

Her diary includes tips - mostly from the South of France and New York - about spas and hairdressers. Products are from small companies.

Cult product: Vrai Revitalising Argan Oil For Hair & Body, £45.

Vrai softens the skin, protects its elasticity and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. It's also good for joints, the scalp, nails and hair.”

what the press are saying about our products

aedes de venustas lime-coconut sea salt exfoliator

The FT How To Spend It Magazine, August 2004

“...the ADV Lime Coconut Sea Salt Exfoliator, exclusive to the boutique, is gorgeous and used by a top pop diva.”

The New York Times, ‘The Essence of Buzz’ by Chandler Burr, December 2005

“I recently discovered a lime-and-coconut sea-salt exfoliator, labelled simply ADV. Huge, dark-caramel colored tubs that smell terrific... J.Lo, Gwen Stefani, Marisa Tomei and John Galliano order it by the pot.” - www.chandlerburr.com

child perfume oil

The Financial Times, How To Spend It Magazine, November 2003

“Dallas-based Susan d’Owens created Child originally as a perfume for her own use and was arguably the first to start the trend. ‘I chose to mix perfume oils without dilution because I wanted a heady, strong formula,’ she says. Owens subsequently sold the scent to Fred Segal Apothia in Los Angeles, where sales rocketed as a result of an astonishing word-of-mouth buzz. In September 2000, American Vogue described it as ‘the remarkable scent in the unmarked bottle’ and reported that Madonna and actress Sigourney Weaver were wearing it. Fred Segal, meanwhile, found itself fielding more than 100 calls a day after one American actress declared that ‘Child Perfume Oil sends men wild.’ Demand for the oil was further fuelled when the LA Times reported that customers at one LA store were ripping the labels off the bottles so that their friends wouldn’t know what they were wearing.”

VRAI hair & body argan oil

The London Magazine, January 2004

“It’s a skincare remedy that... has incredible moisturising and replenishing properties... the buzz product in modern day skincare... it has also attracted the attention of the medical industry. ‘It’s rich in essential fatty acids and is excellent for wrinkles, dry skin and skin that is chronically sun damaged,’ says Dr Elisabeth Dancey, who runs a clinic in Pimlico.

“...the oil reduces visible scars left by acne, chicken pox and spots, and helps to heal burns, scalding and chapped skin. ‘It’s also good for people who have lost a lot of weight, since weight loss can affect the quality of the skin,’ says Dr Dancey.”
